UGA again named a top 10 Military Friendly institution

For the ninth year in a row, Viqtory Media has named the University of Georgia one of the top Military Friendly tier 1 research institutions in the country, ranking UGA sixth. Even as the rankings become increasingly competitive each year, UGA continues its stronghold in the top 10 and earned the No. 1 ranking in 2017, 2021 and 2023.

Jon Segars named Student Veterans of America (SVA) Chapter Advisor of the Year

Jon Segars, director of the University of Georgia Student Veterans Resource Center, was named as the Student Veterans of America (SVA) Chapter Advisor of the Year. This award acknowledges the exceptional mentorship, service, and advocacy by a campus staff or faculty member to an SVA chapter as an advisor.

UGA student veterans receive national leadership award 

Chris King and Dan Triplett have been recognized as among the nation’s top student veterans for their excellence as leaders in their communities. G.I. Jobs Magazine named King and Triplett in their 2024 Student Veteran Leadership Awards.

Fall 2023 Veterans Scholarship Ceremony

On November 7, the Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) welcomed more than 200 students and guests to the Tate Student Grand Hall for the SVRC’s annual Veterans Week Scholarship Ceremony. The SVRC and its supporters awarded more than 165 scholarships with a combined value of $155,310 to UGA student veterans.

UGA student veterans place 700 flags in honor of Veterans Day

University of Georgia student veterans gathered Monday, November 6, to place 700 American flags at the UGA Memorial Garden to represent the 700,000+ veterans living in the state of Georgia.

Gabriela Castillo, a pre-med biology major from Gainesville, Ga., has been recognized as one of the nation’s top student veterans as a result of her persistence in overcoming challenges and excelling as a student, volunteer and leader in her community.

Student Veterans Resource Center caps successful year with Honor Cord Ceremony 

On May 2, the Student Veterans Resource Center hosted its Honor Cord and Scholarship Ceremony recognizing 74 student veterans graduating UGA in 2023 and more than 100 students receiving scholarships and grants. The Honor Cord recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of UGA’s student veterans.
