For many, the Ramsey Student Center is a pillar of the UGA community, a comfortable place to play games, connect with peers and engage in physical activity. No one understands this community better than the students and staff who work within the “Ram Fam.”
Bryan Gomez, a University of Georgia pharmacy student, credits a Recreational Sports Outdoor Rec backpacking trip with sparking a passion that changed his life. What began as an uncertain first-time adventure turned into confidence, growth and a love for the outdoors that continues to shape his outlook on life.

This past November, construction began on a renovation project to add approximately 10,000 square feet of strength and conditioning space to the facility’s first floor.
The Graduate Student Well-Being Challenge, launched in Fall 2024 by UGA Recreational Sports and the Graduate School, encourages students to build sustainable wellness habits through an eight-week series of physical, mental, and emotional health activities. Participants earn points for completing weekly challenges, with top scorers winning prizes.
