With more than 40,000 students, the University of Georgia offers numerous opportunities to connect and become a part of many communities. UGA boasts thousands of programs, more than 800 student organizations, and daily events.
More than 600 students participated at 36 sites for Dawg Day of Service.
Gabriela Castillo, a pre-med biology major from Gainesville, Ga., has been recognized as one of the nation’s top student veterans as a result of her persistence in overcoming challenges and excelling as a student, volunteer and leader in her community.
Sarah Park entered the Miss UGA Competition intending to gain new experience and win the competition’s scholarship. Park not only walked away with the Miss UGA 2023 crown, but she also discovered newfound potential to use her voice for good.
Intramural Sports gives literally everyone the opportunity to play – even faculty, staff, and their spouses. Participants are able to form their own team and play with friends or sign up as a free agent and make some new ones. Dozens of sports are offered each semester.
On May 2, the Student Veterans Resource Center hosted its Honor Cord and Scholarship Ceremony recognizing 74 student veterans graduating UGA in 2023 and more than 100 students receiving scholarships and grants. The Honor Cord recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of UGA’s student veterans.
Plans also call for construction of a new dining, learning and wellness center and an additional parking deck
Martha Dannenbaum has been named executive director of the University Health Center at the University of Georgia after a nationwide search. Dannenbaum most recently served as director of Student Health Services at Texas A&M University.
