Health care goes far beyond fevers and vaccines for Missy Jackson.
As director of nursing and care management at UGA’s University Health Center, she’s not only helping to treat patients, but she’s also setting them up for a healthier future.
“There is such a unique opportunity to change the trajectory of their health care for the rest of their lives,” she said.

Presented by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the HEED Award reflects the university’s deliberate efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
The University of Georgia is now in the second year of a three-year, $8.5 million investment to enhance campus security measures, including the placement of additional lighting and security cameras; the hiring of additional police personnel; the establishment of a nightly rideshare program launched in Fall 2021; and the introduction of a new and more robust smart phone safety app. These recent measures augment nearly $6 million the University has made in safety improvements over the previous five years for a seven-year commitment of over $14 million.

On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25, UGA Miracle, the University of Georgia’s largest student-run philanthropy, announced they had raised $1,075,281.24 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Tanner Nelson, a first-year student from Columbus, has been named the 2022 Bradley-Turner Leadership Scholar at the University of Georgia. The scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding students who exhibit superior leadership capabilities while in high school and who aspire to be student leaders at UGA.
