Biographical Info

Marques R. Dexter serves as the Interim Director of Multicultural Services and Programs (MSP), with a concurrent appointment as Associate Director in the Office of Inclusive Excellence (OIE). In this joint role, he provides strategic leadership for planning, advising, developing, and implementing a wide range of programs, initiatives, and educational offerings. His efforts primarily focus on promoting inclusive excellence and belonging, fostering intercultural engagement that acknowledges and honors the intersections of identity. Additionally, he oversees assessment initiatives for MSP and collaborates closely with student organizations and partners across campus to ensure high-quality programming, effective mentorship, leadership development, and administrative effectiveness.

Within the Office of Inclusive Excellence, Mr. Dexter leads the creation and execution of programmatic and institutional efforts to support the academic success, achievement, and engagement of students, including those who are first-generation, from rural or low-income backgrounds, and other underserved populations. In this capacity, he also serves as the Director of the Georgia African American Male Experience (GAAME) program.

Mr. Dexter is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Kinesiology at the Mary Frances Early College of Education. His research focuses on the experiences of academically and athletically high-achieving Black male athletes. Through visual qualitative research methods, he examines how academic, athletic, and racial identities intersect and influence Black male athletes’ sense of self.

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mr. Dexter earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sport Management from Robert Morris University (PA) and his master’s degree in Kinesiology, specializing in Sport Management and Policy, from the University of Georgia (UGA).
