Amanda Fishman named director of Parent and Family Engagement

Amanda Fishman, previously the director of education and programs for the executive office of Alpha Delta Pi, has been named director of Parent and Family Engagement at the University of Georgia.

Hundreds of students serve the Athens community

On Sept. 21, more than 500 University of Georgia students participated in Dawg Day of Service, UGA’s largest annual day of student-led community service. Celebrating its 11th year, the event set records for the number of participating students and service sites, highlighting students’ growing commitment to community involvement.

Welcome UGA events to kickoff the Fall 2024 semester

Welcome UGA continues its campus-wide celebration into the new year for incoming and returning students. Various departments and organizations hosted not just events, but opportunities to connect with students as they begin a new semester - fostering a sense of belonging for them on campus.

UGA welcomes Class of 2028

This week, the University of Georgia welcomes 6,175 first-year students from more than 43,000 applicants. It’s one of most academically qualified classes in the university’s history, and the numbers are on target with UGA’s new strategic enrollment plan.

UGA Mobile App enhances student experience

Over the past year, the Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) Web and Mobile Technology team has been working to improve the student digital experience. Their efforts include making multiple UGA applications more accessible to students by integrating them into the UGA Mobile App.

UGA continues to strengthen campus security

When new and returning University of Georgia students come to Athens for the fall semester, they will notice a series of highly visible initiatives to further strengthen campus security — from new signs and perimeter fencing to lighting upgrades, emergency call stations and automatic license plate readers.

Protecting the Georgia Coast

Researchers and educators at the University of Georgia Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant work in a unique kind of lab. On Skidaway Island, staff are surrounded on every side by miles of salt marsh and towering oak trees with vibrant, twisting branches covered in Spanish moss.
