Greek Life Director Joshua Welch to serve as President of the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors (AFA) for the 2025-2026 term
Joshua Welch, University of Georgia’s Greek Life Director, has been elected to serve as the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors (AFA) President for the 2025-2026 term. The upcoming Annual Meeting for AFA takes place in Indianapolis in December, where Welch will step into this role through 2026.
AFA is dedicated to raising the bar in effective professionalism within sororities and fraternities in higher education through advisement. They strive to enhance the overall experience within these organizations by creating an environment of “increasing skill, value, and inclusion.”
Welch has been the Director of Greek Life since 2020. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science Business Administration in Marketing and a Master of Education in College Student Personnel from Western Carolina University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in College Student Affairs Administration at UGA. Welch boasts over 16 years of experience within Greek Life administration as a campus-based professional and headquarters staff member. His roles at the University of Central Missouri, Elon University, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity’s Headquarters and North Carolina State University developed his knowledge and skills necessary for this role in AFA.
Composed of over 9,500 students, Greek Life at UGA seeks to make our large university feel smaller through its 67 chapters. Students within these chapters impact our campus and beyond through their philanthropic causes by raising awareness and serving over 100 non-profit organizations. Within each Greek Life department, Welch specifically makes connections within and oversees their strategy, plans and manages large events, and serves as a Standards of Excellence Coach. Dedicated to this work, he identifies himself as “an educator” says Welch, “using the fraternity and sorority experience to provide educational opportunities to students to help them develop skills outside of the classroom” and “become impactful and multifaceted leaders.”
Joshua Welch is excited to take part in fulfilling AFA’s mission in the coming year while continuing to make our university and the Greek Life community proud.
