Carrie Truax named senior director of development for Student Affairs
Carrie Truax, previously director of development for university wide initiatives at Clemson University, has been named senior director of development for Student Affairs at the University of Georgia. As Student Affairs’ chief development officer, Truax will serve as a liaison between the Division of Student Affairs and University Development
Truax will report directly to the Senior Director of Development for Constituent Programs Brooks McCommons and Vice President for Student Affairs Michelle G. Cook and serve as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team.
To fulfill the mission of Student Affairs and implement its programs and initiatives, Truax will work closely with Vice President Cook to develop fundraising priorities, create an annual development plan, implement the plan and secure major gifts while also supervising a development team. In addition to major gifts, the position is also responsible for providing strategy, leadership, direction, coordination and management of all levels of giving for the Division of Student Affairs, including annual giving and stewardship.
“Carrie has an excellent record of building key relationships in support of student affairs programs and initiatives,” said Cook. “Her leadership and drive for this work will enable us to further increase student support which is so critical for our students’ success and well-being.”
Truax said that she looks forward to serving UGA by bringing her personal fundraising philosophy, honed through more than a decade of work in higher education.

Truax’s appointment is effective June 1.
She previously worked in development and fundraising roles for Clemson University, the University of Tennessee, and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Truax holds a Master of Science in sport management from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Clemson University.
