Student Affairs donors expand opportunities for Bulldogs through record-breaking year of giving
For University of Georgia students, philanthropy does more than provide financial support. It opens doors to resources and experiences that foster connection, belonging and well-being while creating opportunities that help Bulldogs thrive throughout their college journey.
In fiscal year 2026, more than 3,500 donors contributed nearly $7.4 million to the Division of Student Affairs, making it a record-breaking year of philanthropic support. The year included 14 six-figure gifts, reflecting significant donor investment in Student Affairs and its mission to support student success. Through 6,453 gifts averaging $1,146, donors invested in scholarships, programs, services and initiatives that enrich the student experience and advance student success. More than one-third of donors made their first gift to Student Affairs, demonstrating growing momentum and confidence in the division’s mission.
“Every gift represents a belief in our students and their success,” said Vice President for Student Affairs Michelle Cook. “This extraordinary support enables us to create opportunities, remove barriers, and provide experiences that help students thrive during their time at UGA and beyond.”
While gifts varied in size, their collective impact expanded opportunities and strengthened support for students across campus.
Supporting students today and tomorrow
Scholarships remain one of the most direct and meaningful ways donor generosity impacts students.
During the academic year, Student Affairs awarded 1,428 scholarships totaling more than $2.15 million, helping students pursue their degrees while engaging fully in the academic, leadership and co-curricular experiences that define life at UGA.
“Some of the most meaningful parts of the student experience happen outside the classroom, whether it’s finding a community, developing leadership skills, attending campus programs or getting support during a hard semester,” said Trey Wilson, President of the UGA Student Government Association. “Donor generosity is what makes so much of that possible, and as SGA president, I see the impact of it every day.”
Donors also invested in the future by establishing 20 new endowments. As of June 30, the Student Affairs endowment exceeded $43 million, creating a lasting source of support that will benefit generations of Bulldogs.
Student Affairs distributed $1.19 million from endowment funds to advance its mission and support students, while an additional $2.42 million in discretionary funding provided flexibility to address emerging needs and launch new initiatives.
A culture of giving
The spirit of philanthropy extends beyond alumni and friends of the university. Current students are also choosing to invest in the Bulldog experience.
During fiscal year 2026, 389 students contributed $7,514 to Student Affairs, demonstrating their commitment to supporting fellow Bulldogs and strengthening the programs and opportunities that shape campus life.
Faculty and staff likewise played an important role in the division’s fundraising success. Across the university, 391 faculty and staff members made gifts to Student Affairs, including 98 members of the division.
Together, these donors are expanding opportunities for today’s students while creating lasting impact for future generations of Bulldogs.
