HeeJung Gong received two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Public Administration and another in Family Resource Management, and a minor in Education from Sookmyung Women’s University in South Korea, graduating with academic honors. She then earned a Master’s degree in Education, focusing on Higher Education, from Yonsei University in South Korea.
Before beginning her doctoral intern at the Department of Student Affairs Assessment and Staff Development, she worked in a research position at the Center for Global Higher Education in Yonsei University and the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI), which is the national education research one under the Prime Minister.
HeeJung Gong is currently studying at the Institute of Higher Education at UGA as a doctoral student and her recent research interests are organizational effectiveness, institutional research, and finance issues in higher education.
Kara leads the department of student affairs assessment and staff development, serves on the leadership team for the Division of Student Affairs and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for Academic, Campus and Community Partnerships. She is responsible for managing research, assessment, evaluation and planning activities to improve Student Affairs’ programs and services. She participates in Student Affairs’ strategic planning, goal-setting activities and budget development, as well as coordinate the Division’s comprehensive staff development initiatives.
Kara completed both her B.S. and M.Ed. degrees at the University of Minnesota, and recently earned a Ph.D. in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia. She began her career in student affairs at the University of Minnesota. She has worked in UGA Student Affairs since 2009.
Jennifer works in Assessment and Staff Development providing administrative support for the director and the office as a whole. She handles the departmental email and schedules meetings with and for assessment staff, all while making a mean pot of coffee. She also assists in planning staff development events for her department and for the Division.
Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Culture with a concentration in Classical Archaeology from the University of Georgia in 2007. She worked for UGA's Campus Transit for seven years during and after college, before starting work with Student Affairs in February 2012. Outside of the office, she is the volunteer coordinator for UGA Hockey, and likes to spend her free time with her husband, friends, and cats.
