Dr. Erin L. Richman joined UGA in early 2016 as the Director of Academic Partnerships & Initiatives to lead innovative, high-quality partnerships between the Division of Student Affairs and other academic and instructional programs at UGA. Dr. Richman holds adjunct faculty appointments in the Department of Psychology, the Institute for Women’s Studies, and the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services. In addition to leading the Academic Advisory Board, she works to foster seamless learning opportunities for UGA’s students. She also leads efforts to advance UGA Student Affairs as a principal laboratory for research for faculty who wish to conduct research with Student Affairs’ departments. She is a member of the vice president’s office staff and serves on the leadership team for the division.
Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Institutional Innovation and Presidential Fellow at Florida State College at Jacksonville where she led various strategic initiatives on social enterprise, urban farming, housing development, and civic engagement. Richman has a successful record of establishing and growing academic initiatives and designing functional, institution-wide programs. After receiving her Masters and Ph.D. in Psychology and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from The University of Georgia, she spent the next 13 years as a psychology faculty member at Agnes Scott College, University of North Florida, and Florida State College at Jacksonville. She taught a variety of courses including Advanced Research Methods/Statistics, Developmental Psychology, Human Sexuality, and Psychology of Women/Gender. As a developmental psychologist, her area of expertise focuses on risk and protective factors in the development of self-concept and psychosocial well-being during the transition to adolescence and young adulthood.
Richman is a native Floridian. When not at work, she loves spending time with her family, teaching her two daughters about the ocean, stars, and music, and, of course, cheering on the Bulldogs.
