Demosthenian prevails: UGA’s Demosthenian Literary Society celebrates 223rd anniversary

Demosthenian Literary Society held their annual all-night meeting from 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 to 7 a.m. on Feb. 22 to celebrate the society’s 223rd anniversary. The literary society made a focus to branch out to other organizations regarded as the oldest societies at their universities. They were joined by members of University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s DiPhi Joint Senate, The Jefferson Society of University of Virginia, and Georgetown University’s Philodemic Society to celebrate this occasion.

President Seth Wright shared a membership of over 80 debaters this year that joined in the respectful debate of topics covered by the society this year such as cryptocurrency, Israel-Hamas war and the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
