The University of Georgia’s Ramsey Student Center staff—members including Caroline Caplinger, Stephanie Calhoun, Jason James, and Marty Mullis– have had notable involvement in the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Women’s Flag and Men’s Tackle Football State Championships in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Intramural Sports gives literally everyone the opportunity to play – even faculty, staff, and their spouses. Participants are able to form their own team and play with friends or sign up as a free agent and make some new ones. Dozens of sports are offered each semester.
“My son and I were walking through the building the Sunday before it first opened, and we heard an explosion. It turns out that the hot water tanks had blown,” said Dr. Jane Russell, former director of Recreational Sports. “When we opened there was no hot water in the showers…and guess what? Nobody cared.”
For this year’s NFL Flag Bowl championship game, four officials were selected from the best of the best across the country, and one of those four was University of Georgia student Nuri Troy.
