When we embarked on our 2020 Strategic Plan nearly five years ago, I knew it was ambitious. Looking back today, I could not have imagined the tremendous impact for UGA students and the future of Student Affairs our efforts would have.
Yet together we did it!
Truly, the student experience at UGA today is the best ever, with record student retention and graduation rates, engagement and experiential learning opportunities across the campus and community, world-class facilities, talented and supportive faculty and staff, the most diverse student body ever, all in a one-of-a-kind learning environment.
Over the same time, Student Affairs has reached new heights—new areas of student, faculty, and staff support, new facilities and improvements, record fundraising, amazing new communications and outreach, robust academic and campus collaborations, countless student and staff achievements, and the list goes on.
As you review our accomplishments and stories here, I must acknowledge, first and foremost, our amazing students, who make every day a joy and inspiration; our unbelievable team in Student Affairs, who create magic in a million ways for students; and our campus colleagues, donors, alumni, friends, and so many others, who help to make the UGA experience possible. For all, we are exceedingly grateful and blessed.
Of course, while we celebrate, we also forge ahead—to build on our successes, to lead boldly in the years to come. As we plan for tomorrow, I am assured we will go further. We will go further to ensure that all students have what they need to discover their passions and flourish in their studies, work, and life. We will go further to improve student well-being and success and support those with special need. And we will go further to help UGA students engage even more meaningfully and learn to lead and serve the world’s communities toward a better future.
Together we did it, and we will go beyond #forthestudents.
