The Department of Student Affairs Assessment (DSAA) strategic plan was developed in alignment with its mission and the Division of Student Affairs 2015 strategic plan. This plan was designed to guide the work within the DSAA for the next five years. Included in the plan are three strategic directions: promoting organizational effectiveness, developing a comprehensive professional development program, and improving administrative practices. Areas of focus within the strategic directions will be determined in conjunction with the Division of Student Affairs identified priorities on an annual basis.
The Department is committed to promoting organizational effectiveness within Student Affairs through functional Division-wide planning process. These processes include strategic planning, priority planning, annual reporting, SALDOs implementation, and SACS credentialing. This direction strongly supports Strategic Direction I in the Student Affairs 2015 Strategic Plan. Strategic Priorities:
- Acquire new survey software
- Establish an advisory board to provide counsel on Division-wide planning processes
- Develop online resources to simplify Division-wide planning processes
- Implement web-based system to facilitate improved data management as it relates to Division-wide planning processes
- Align Division-wide planning processes with revised University reporting requirements as necessary
The Department is committed to developing a comprehensive professional development program for Student Affairs. Our focus is on providing educational resources and opportunities for staff members in the Division to acquire knowledge and enhance skills. This direction strongly supports Strategic Direction II in the Student Affairs 2015 Strategic Plan. Strategic Priorities:
- Establish fellows program for professional development
- Develop comprehensive outreach strategy for assessment education
- Create resources to support SALDOs integration
- Expand professional development materials on DSAA website
- Establish an assessment plan for emerging professional development initiatives
The Department is committed to improving administrative practices within the unit. Our focus is on strengthening collaboration and communication and increasing productivity. This direction strongly supports Strategic Direction III in the Student Affairs 2015 Strategic Plan. Strategic Priorities:
- Develop strategies to generate additional revenue
- Convert websites maintained by the Vice President’s Office to content management system
- Integrate the University’s new student information system into current operations as necessary
- Explore opportunities to enhance the performance evaluation process for staff in DSAA
